Amazon Warriors Seal CPL Playoff Berth as Nabi Stars in Six-Win Run
The Guyana Amazon Warriors continued their remarkable start to the Caribbean Premier League 2026 season with a commanding seven-wicket victory over the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots at the Providence Stadium.

The result extended the Amazon Warriors' perfect record to six wins from six matches and officially secured their place in the CPL playoffs. Mohammad Nabi was the standout performer, producing an all-round display with four wickets for 17 runs before contributing an unbeaten 25 with the bat.
Romario Shepherd and Shamar Joseph also played crucial roles with the ball, restricting the Patriots to 128 all out in 19.2 overs. Rahmanullah Gurbaz then provided the early momentum in the chase before Shai Hope and Nabi calmly guided the Warriors to 132 for 3 in 18.3 overs.
Patriots Make Fast Start Before Collapse
After winning the toss, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots captain Jason Holder elected to bat first.
The decision initially appeared to be working as Kyle Mayers and Johnson Charles established a positive opening partnership. The pair added 34 runs before the Patriots' innings suddenly lost momentum.
Romario Shepherd provided the breakthrough by dismissing both openers, while Shamar Joseph removed Andre Fletcher to leave the Patriots struggling at 39 for 3.
The slow Providence surface offered limited bounce, making it difficult for the Patriots' batters to play their attacking shots consistently.
Mohammad Nabi then joined the attack and quickly put the Patriots under further pressure. He dismissed Holder before removing Wanindu Hasaranga, Navin Bidaisee and Jeremiah Louis to complete an impressive spell of 4 for 17.
Athanaze Provides Resistance
With the Patriots reduced to 64 for 5, Alick Athanaze and Dasun Shanaka attempted to rebuild the innings.
The pair added 45 runs for the sixth wicket, taking the Patriots beyond the 100-run mark and giving their side a chance of posting a competitive total.
Shanaka eventually fell to Shepherd, who finished with three wickets for 16 runs from his three overs.
Nabi then struck twice in quick succession as the Patriots' lower order collapsed.
Athanaze remained at the crease long enough to reach a fighting half-century, scoring 52 from 39 deliveries with two fours and four sixes. However, Shamar Joseph returned in the final over to dismiss him and complete the innings.
The Patriots lost their final five wickets for just 19 runs and were bowled out for 128 with four deliveries remaining.
Gurbaz Sets the Tone in the Chase
The target of 129 gave the Amazon Warriors a straightforward chase, and Rahmanullah Gurbaz immediately put the Patriots under pressure.
The Afghanistan opener attacked from the beginning, taking advantage of the PowerPlay and producing a rapid 39 from just 25 balls. His innings included five fours and two sixes.
Gurbaz's aggressive approach helped the Warriors reach 58 during the PowerPlay, putting them firmly in control of the chase.
He eventually fell to Wanindu Hasaranga, but by then he had already done much of the damage required to put the Warriors on course for another victory.
Mavindra Dindyal made 17 before being dismissed by Navin Bidaisee, who also removed Shimron Hetmyer for just one.
The Warriors were briefly reduced to 78 for 3, but the modest target meant there was little pressure on the remaining batters.
Hope and Nabi Finish the Job
Shai Hope and Mohammad Nabi then took control of the chase.
Rather than taking unnecessary risks, the pair patiently accumulated the remaining runs while keeping the required rate comfortably under control.
Hope finished unbeaten on 38 from 44 balls, including three fours, while Nabi completed his excellent all-round performance with an unbeaten 25 from 21 deliveries.
Nabi struck two fours and a six before Hope sealed the victory with a boundary, taking the Amazon Warriors to 132 for 3 after 18.3 overs.
The seven-wicket victory confirmed their sixth consecutive win and guaranteed their place in the CPL playoffs.
Amazon Warriors Continue Perfect CPL Campaign
The result underlined the depth and balance within the Amazon Warriors' squad.
Their bowlers once again restricted an opponent to a modest total, while their batting unit successfully managed the chase without allowing the Patriots to build any significant pressure.
Nabi's performance was particularly important. His four-wicket spell destroyed the Patriots' middle and lower order before his unbeaten contribution with the bat ensured there was no late drama.
Shepherd's three wickets and Joseph's two wickets also played a major role in keeping the Patriots below 130.
For the Patriots, Athanaze's 52 and the early contributions from Mayers and Charles were not enough to prevent another difficult result.
With six victories from six matches, the Guyana Amazon Warriors have established themselves as one of the strongest sides in CPL 2026. Their playoff qualification is now confirmed, while their perfect record gives them a strong platform as the tournament moves towards its decisive stages.
